This trip was physically tough. Yeah, I could have opted out for a break, but there was SO MUCH to see.
The Galapagos trip ended up being a saga rather than a post.
For links to the whole trip please go to the first Galapagos post. The morning was full of stuff. Enough adventure for a whole week. Fortunately the afternoon was mostly about sitting in the panga and letting the boat guy do his stuff.
Elizabeth Bay on Isabella Island gave us an
opportunity to go in the mangroves. This is one of the few areas
with lots of vegetation. I will give you some of the photos, but
there is no way to express the amazing things we saw, like sea lions
in the trees, and penguins nesting in the mangrove.
When
we got deep in the grove, the motor was turned off, and our driver
would use an oar to pole us along.

I am afraid that a few of us started singing the Gilligan song |

That white dot in there is a penguin. What would Cumberbatch say? |

Those of you that have spent time with me know that I do origami to promote what sanity I might have available. I gave a peacock to Francesca, the crew member in charge of housekeeping. She was notoriously thorough at her job. If you took a nap, when you got up to get some tea, the bed would be crisply made, your suitcase aligned with the wall, and your shoes neatly lined up under the bed. This is what she did to my bed. |
